LEED Gold DOC Headquarters Building
During the move to DOC’s new headquarters, training was held for all employees to explain the green features of the building as well as daily actions we can take to make a more sustainable workplace.
Most facilities have sustainability committees to help them identify and implement environmentally preferred practices. Some also include sustainability training in their annual staff training. The Headquarters Sustainability Committee has started “Lunch and Learn” workshops on a variety of topics including composting and commute trip reduction, and hosted the first DOC Earth Day Event.
Five DOC staff members are LEED™ Accredited Professionals, with others training to take the exam.

Articles on DOC’s sustainability accomplishments have been published in state agency newsletters, local papers, industry journals, and even Discover Magazine. Stories have also been featured on regional National Public Radio stations.
Sustainability is part of the DOC’s Strategic Plan, as a means to develop more effective and efficient business practices, and to support the Priority of Government to protect the environment.
